The International Sommellerie celebrated its 50th anniversary

The International Sommellerie celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 7, 2019, in Reims in the great hall of Boulingrin:

I had the opportunity to participate at the masterclass of the great brand of Champagne Philipponnat very popular sommeliers taste for its olfactory and taste qualities:
This Champagne house was founded in 1910 in Mareuil-sur-Ay. It owns a 20-hectares vineyard, planted mainly in Pinot noir and spread over the municipalities of Ay, Avenay-Val-d’Or, Mareuil-sur-Ay and Mutigny.
Among the various vintages tasted that day, the 2009, 2003 and 2000 vintages in the presence of Charles Philipponnat, I chose two to illustrate my Wine4Melomanes inspiration and its musical chords of the same vintage.

The 2009 Clos des Goisses Extra Brut cuvée, from a chalky 5.5-hectare 45-degree slope overlooking the South-facing Marne valley, was my favourite of the proposed series.
It is composed of pinot noir grapes at 65% and chardonnay at 35%.
Its exceptional olfactory complexity around black berries, elderflower, spicy lemon zest and chalky yeast guides me to a well-stocked and celestial orchestrated music.
In the mouth, the vivacity and tension well combined offers a finish with sublime and digestible pastryd and brioche notes. This taste asset is layered with a musical choice played by virtuoso jazz or classical musicians.

The composition of English musicians from:
Portico Quartet « Paper Scissors Stone » 2009 highlights the complexity, vivacity, sensuality and harmony of this ethereal cuvée.

The Clos des Goisses 2000 cuvée with the same characteristics as the previous one, is tasted differently due to its slightly more handy liqueur made added during this period.
The olfactory complexity is more creamy with candied and vanilla notes; its tasting affirms a texture of buttered and toasted hazelnut. Having a minerality, tension and vivacity more discreet than the previous vintage, I chose a music with similar sensuality but less timed.

The composition of French musicians from:
Air « Playground love » 2000 which highlights the complexity, vivacity, sensuality and harmony of this exquisite cuvée.
