Grands Crus Classés Médoc Primeurs 2019 - Rive Gauche Bordelaise

musical wines

A “hard ride” Rive Gauche for tastings of the 2019 vintage with my sidekick Guy Charneau:

Château #Dauzac Grand Cru Classé de Margaux in order to start at the beautiful fixed welcomed by the directors Laurent Fortin and Philippe Fort.

Rich, open, fresh, perennial and tense wines that could make us think of a very successful mix of the 2009 vintage and the 2010 vintage, on all the wines tasted to follow on this day rich in olfaction and flavor. At this level of winemaking, the aromatic and gustatory complexity emerges with a lot of movement from one month to the next so I will not mention the palettes usually detected during the ageing of the wine.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

St. Mark Is Howling in the City of Night by artist Brad Mehldau to highlight the contemporary and vigorous look of the wine tasted.

Following the same sensations at the #ChâteauLatour Grand Cru Classé by the Pauillac appellation with the magic of the dynamic organic terroir that reveals itself every year as a marvel in a bottle.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

On My Knees (feat. Michael Kiwanuka) by the artist UNKLE to highlight the purity of the wine tasted.

Château #CosdEstournel Grand Cru Classé by the appellation #StEstephe to continue this morning at the timed tempo, offers us a range of red and white haute couture in the image of the splendid estate.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

Nursery Rhyme by artist Sarah Tandy to highlight the elegance of the wine tasted.

A lunch break after greeting Jean-Michel Cazes and then, heading to Château #CalonSegur to discover this fabulous Grand Cru Classified authentic of the appellation #StEstephe.

A newly renovated estate with very good taste while remaining sober. A perfectly adapted tasting room and a professional welcome.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

I Still Believe by artist Ashley Henry to emphasize the sensuality of the wine tasted.

Then Château #Montrose Grand Cru Classé from the appellation #StEstephe and its 3 Crus of excellence allows us to continue in the perfection of the powerful and fine vintage for all these wines tasted. Hélène Brochet, the communications director, generously welcomed us.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

Green Eyes by artist Jazzmeia Horn to highlight the intensity and gracility of the wine tasted.

Château #GruaudLaroze Grand Cru Classé by the appellation #StJulien also signs a wine of great aromatic clarity and taste tension top mastered. The sales manager Arnaud Frédéric also received us with nobility.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

(To) Know Where You’re Coming From by artist Joe Armon-Jones to highlight the complex energy of wine tasted.

Château #Margaux Grand Cru Classé from the name of the same name closes this journey in the extreme sensation already described above. General manager Philippe Bascaules invited us to go inside this incredible ‘château’ to taste the 3 great vintages with a particularly fine white, mineral and tense, whose aromatic frame oscillates between citrus fruits and some pineapple notes. The latter has been popular with large Japanese restaurants for many years.

I chose in musical pairing according to Wine4Melomanes the song of 2019:

The Dream Keeper (feat. Cherise Adams-Burnett) by the artist SEED Ensemble to highlight the virtuosity of the wines tasted.

An exceptional vintage of almost perfect balance, which was slightly delayed in the spring for this Rive Gauche (unlike the Rive Droite), but which exulted with beauty and brilliance at the time of the “de-confinement” and the arrival of the beautiful season! (June 2020)
