Bouchard Finlayson « Galpin Peak » Tête de Cuvée Pinot noir

Walker Bay region – Afrique du Sud 2007 (red)

Grapes: pinot noir on a complex clay-limestone soil with granitic areas

Allure of the bottle, sticker: Opulent, stylish gold effigy of the master’s house of the domain, clear calligraphy well-defined of a contemporary Roman type.

Aromas: The sensual floral slide around the eucalyptus and the red rose, is tapered by the black fruit (ripe, bigarreau, fine notes of blackcurrant). A poetry of spices revealing black pepper, liquorice combined with moist undergrowth foam, draws a fresh, inviting set.

Flavors: The fantastic outfit of concentrated tannic architecture, insolante of voluptuousness comes to envelop our taste buds in a final empyreumatic of pure delight. The olfaction and the tasting are in unison around a harmonious mixed sensuality after this decade diving at the bottom of the thermo-regulated cellar.

The musical chord chosen from the same vintage emphasizes the beauty of the wine by matching the three common invariable parameters defined in the two universes following the Wine4Melomanes concept: sensuality, vivacity and melody. These parameters are the result of the bio-dynamic equation of the geology of the terroir, the climate and the grapes cultivating it and the know-how of the winegrower to reveal the alchemy of the aromas and flavors precisely combined.

My chosen musical proposal:

Robert Glasper « Maiden voyage , everything in its right place » – 2007

The brilliant and dreamy sensuality of the famous « Hancockien » pianist traveller theme comes to marry in the image of a wild silk corset, the fresh vivacity of the poetic aromatic bouquet of this nectar. The complexity orchestrated by the jazz of virtuoso musicians enters the philharmonic resonance with that of the tasting, waving our senses to the eurhythmy until the extreme final of the composition.

Tasted in July 2017
