A second « worker ride » Rive Droite for tastings of the 2019 vintage with my sidekick Guy Charneau (early July 2020):

Wines on this Rive Droite  that are already very open with an aromatic complexity affirmed at this stage of winemaking.

For the leg setting, we started with the grandiose Château Cheval Blanc Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion and its line of modern, floral, balsamic, spicy and deep wines. Château Quinault l’Enclos continues to progress with each vintage, Petit Cheval with only 9000 bottles for 2019 and the great vintage of the estate advocating a very long guard thanks to its structure signed by a master, are already sold out on the international circuit. A precise balance between floral and fruity, a frank merlot superbly combined with a controlled exuberance like a great conductor!

Theme for Cha-Cha by artist Lynda Dawn to highlight the wine’s sublime aromatic and tasteful ride.

Secondo, towards Château Pavie-Macquin Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion where we arrive mid-morning to discover the sublime vintage of the current vintage.

A style that is also modern, with floral nose, mint, Chinese ink, cedar and delicate embalming power.

Châteaux Larcis Ducasse and Beauséjour in Premiers Grands Crus Classés also brilliantly sign the more classical spirit of the fervent vintages of this appellation in order to satisfy a conservative public.

Hard To Say Goodbye by artist Michael Kiwanuka to highlight the sovereign intensity of the wine tasted.

Just before noon, we are at Château Figeac Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion to discover the UFO vinified without sulfur perfectly successful. Merlot and cabernets blend in with the excellence of a lively, racy and energizing wine. The fruity look and floral notes combine gluttony and caress in harmony. Contemporary winemakers Michel Rolland and Thomas Duclos have produced together with the domain team an extreme and unique 2019 opus symbolizing the wine of the future.

For My Ladies by artist Yuseef Dayes to highlight the splendid balance of the floral and fruity ballet of the wine tasted.

After a frugal lunch at Caffe Cuisine in Branne, we will taste the wines of Château Villemaurine Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé hosted by Cynthia Capelaere.

A parallel of the most agreeable between the 2016 vintage and that of the Primeurs is offered to us, in order to highlight some qualitative similarities actually very real.

The Angelots in second wine supports this duo with just as much aromatic freshness.

This Is For You (with Maurissa Rose) by artist Theo Parrish to highlight the freshness of modern wine tasted.

Here we are in the middle of the afternoon for 2 good hours, at Château Tertre-Roteboeuf Saint-Emilion Grand Cru on the top of the commune in the company of the German journalist Birte Jantzen, and all received by the maestro François Mitjavile in the living room of his sumptuous home of authenticity and culture. The latter comments with faithfulness his bachic creations to get into appetite before going down to the cellar of the vintage in question.

The few « grail » of 1989, 1990 and then some vintages of 2000 reinforce the works of this fabulous and always very family-friendly terroir in 2019. The wines are racy and tapered, respecting the conservative spirit of yesteryear with a lot of vivacity and fabulous empyreumatic aromas after 30 years of ageing.

A real happiness shared with the additional tastings of Domaine and Roc de Cambes, then L’Aurage that made us forget the following appointment at Château Monlot unfortunately. Part postponed for this growing field to follow closely.

Memory Band by artist Ryan Porter to highlight the aromatic and tasteful breadth of poetic wine.

Then we finish the course at Château Croix du Merle Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and the 2 excellent vintages of Marien Nègre for a semi-aperitif tasting of the 2018 and 2015 vintages available. A 100% adjusted merlot from a 2-hectare sandy-clay soil in Saint Hippolyte that tastes for both vintages with voracity.
